Tweetwear is a project that allowed me to further my masters research, by exploring the use of Social Objects in the form of a product.
The project investigated the potential cross over for existing virtual communicating systems into a physical reality. I developed a t-shirt that would allow Twitter users to express their Tweets in an "offline" manner.
The project is still in development stages but you can check out the website for more information.
Story Telling Cards was a project jointly developed between French illustrator Philippine Berly and myself. The projects was designed to enable children to develop their creativity, imagination and self expression skills, through a simple, fun and inventive game with the aid of virtual picture cards.
The virtual cards have inspired a pack of real cards so that children can play without the aid or need for a computer, allowing the game to be placed anywhere, any place with anyone.
Web Smith Tools was built as a simple aggregator of the best web designer tools and resources on the internet. I like to think of it as a web designers dream "contents page" to the Interweb Bible.
A simple one page website that is updated manually by me. I hope to develop it further and allow followers to vote and suggest web tools and resources.
Inappropriate Smileys was build with the main purpose of allowing me to play with the Twitter API. The concept itself was designed to explore the use of "smileys" in society which now have become a recognised and established form of communication.
This simple, one page website brings together peoples ideas, experience and examples of when it is appropriate to use "smileys" and when it is not. :)
DonateMe was a project aimed at raising awareness and to support Children In Need. Using specially designed stickers strategically placed on one thousand £2 coins, DonateMe virally spread a message through public circulation, which took challenging issues directly into the lives of people.
The stickers were designed to create a conversation about the true values of money, with an aim to increase charitable donations to Children In Need's 2009 campaign.
The application allowed users to store their favourite web bookmarks in a fun, innovative and unique way. Users where encouraged to design their own virtual fridge magnets, that linked to a favourite site which could then be placed on to their own online fridge.
The design and branding was simple enough but the level of technical know-how was the challenging part. I built the system from scratch using Flash, php and mySQL.
Dreaming of Pixels is my personal blog space for all things web design & creative media.
